Question: I am the owner of a small construction company and I recently signed a contract with a private company to build an apartment complex. After signing the contract the company has begun to not live up to their end of the deal. Is there a construction law manual that can tell me what I can do to make sure that me and my employees get paid?
Response by Andreana Pentaris: If the company is not living up to their end of the deal that is written in the contract then you should contact a lawyer immediately about your case. Since a contract is legally binding, a lawyer will be able to give you legal counsel on your case, and maybe negotiate a settlement with the company. If that does not work then a lawyer can help you present your case in court. There is also a construction law journal written for the non-legal professional that can give you information on the legal issue you are having.
