My house was just bought by the government through eminent domain. How do I fight the government’s appraisal?

Question

Question: My house was just bought by the government through eminent domain. I don't believe that they appraised my house fairly. How do I fight the government's appraisal?

Response by Pratul Lakhotia: The first thing you should do is find a lawyer in your state that specializes in real estate law. A lawyer will be able to present your case before the court and give you legal counsel. Next you should have a third party appraise your house and keep the paperwork. Also, keep a business card of the appraiser handy as he or she may need to testify if the case goes to court.
